All it takes is that one good thought to succor the needy. I was convinced that without love for fellow human beings, there can be no creativity. ‘‘As a fellow human being, you naturally have sympathy for anyone in that situation. The urge to make someone happy today and watching that soul smiling makes my life meaningful said Louis Fernando founder FFAC.
It’s been three years since Food for All Chennai working towards their milestone with bunch of youngsters in building ‘A Better New India’.
In a bid to create a better model for the development of a girl's child in India National Girl Child Day is celebrated .The day is celebrated every year on 24th January. It is an initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The objective behind celebrating the National Girl Child Day is to provide all support and opportunities to the girls of the country. It also aims towards promoting awareness about the rights of the girl child and to increase awareness on the importance of girl’s education, and their health and nutrition. Starting from female infanticide to gender inequality to sexual abuse, there is no dearth of issues.. Nowadays also gender discrimination is a major problem that girls or women face throughout their life.
Following this FFAC has come up with a new initiative ‘KARPIPOM PENMAGALAI’ –an initiative to empower girl child. The main objective behind this is to highlight the inequalities faced by girls, to promote awareness including the rights of a girl child, the importance of education, health, and nutrition.
A female child has to assume multidimensional roles in the society from mother to mother-in-law, from sister to sister-in-law, and much more. To organise and strengthen institutional support for the protection of the rights of female child across the length and breadth of the country, to rekindle hope of fair treatment with honour and dignity in the society, as the girl child is still not taken in most of the families with respect and honour, and has to suffer throughout her life. Thus quality education in all respects is indispensable for overall development of girl child; when family becomes strong, ultimately nation becomes strong.
Similarly, FFAC has supported one year education sponsorship for a Chennai girl. The Girls family was mourning after the sudden demise of her father post Diwali, 2020 which has worsened the family’s economic situation. The single mother with her children (one boy and one girl) find hard to pay the dues left by her husband which reflects in the education of the girl child considering the family situation
With a reference call a team of five members from FOOD FOR ALL CHENNAI TRUST, visited the girl’s residence for verification process after understanding the family situation. The youth volunteer group has decided to provide monthly provisions for the family regularly and supported for the girls education with all documentation process. Now, the girl is awaiting for her schools to re-open and attending her online classes….
